Magazine Front Cover Analysis

NME is a music magazine, it will have inside music, posters and much more, this will attract the readers because there are loads of things in this magazine, there are posters that you can pull out, so that is an advantage because in some magazines you have to rip out the posters and the magazine always goes messy. The main image is going to be inside the magazine talking about the Reading and Leeds festival. Also there will be party coverage’s in the magazine so this will attract the readers. The target audience is 15+ aswell in this magazine because it has old new music so all age genres can read this magazine, but I think teenagers will read it more because they usually have new bands as the main image. The audiences will be interested in the main image and the bands that are going to be in the magazine I think this main image is going to attract the reader’s because they are a young band and loads of teenagers like them.
The mode of address the main image is getting is a direct mode of address because the main image is looking straight forward at the reader, and their facial expressions look very angry and it looks like they are telling the reader to come and get them, to read their article, so I think they want a personal relationship with the audience.
The scissor sisters are on the front cover because in the magazine they are going to talk about the Reading and Leeds festival, which attracts the reader because this is such a big festival that people are going to want to read it to see what the festival was like. The overall message the main image is trying to give to the audience is that you should come and read this article it is good, you can see this by their facial expressions.
There are a few other bands that are represented in this magazine, such as The Streets, they are represented; it is telling us that The Streets are going opera. There are also some buzz words which stand out like extra, which is telling us that there is an extra in the magazine and it is the poster pull out page, I think this will be an advantage for the reader because the magazine won’t get messy.
The title is very attractive aswell because it is bold and bright and it really stands out, the colour is red with a white outline and a black background so I think this really stands out from the rest of the magazine because the magazine is white and red and it looks so much different from the logo. There is not a slogan which I think is a disadvantage because I think it will attract more readers if they say something like ‘the best music magazine in the world’ then it would attract more readers because they think it I the best magazine in the world. The colours that are used are red, white, black and blue. I think that these colours are used really well in this magazine because they are bold, bright colours and are used in the right ways, for example the blue is used for the buzz words and some of the not so important stories and this makes the blue stand out because it is not used so much.
The strategies that the magazine uses to make the reader be attracted to the audience is bold and clear writing, the colours have to be bold and clear.

Magazine Front Cover Analysis

Kerrang! Magazine the worlds top rock magazine, it will have inside the magazine the K! Awards 2005, free giant posters, rocks angriest band 8page special plus many more. I think this is good that they are featuring all these specials in one magazine because it will attract more people to buy the magazine and the regular customers to buy it. Also the free giant posters will attract the reader because every so often you get free giant posters. The target audience is mainly teenagers, the ages 15+. It is all kinds of ages because Kerrang! Magazine has old bands, new bands and some that have just come into the music industry. The target audiences are mostly interested in the main image, and the cover stories, also the posters are very attracting.
The main image is a direct mode of address because the main image is looking at the reader and their facial expressions are quite grim and indifferent it goes well with their story [death, drugs and revenge]. I think it wants a personal relationship with the reader, because it says they’re not okay, so I think they are trying to get an image where they need the audience to feel pity for them. My Chemical Romance is on the front cover because they are trying to give a message to the audience that they are not okay. The overall message that the main image is giving is that they are not okay.
There are also some other bands being represented, for example Rage Against The Machine is being represented, the magazine is telling us that they are the angriest band, so the magazine is representing them to be the angriest band and that there is an 8-page special explaining how they are the angriest band.
There is a buzz word on the front cover that really stands out which is free, it is telling us that something is free. This attracts the audience because it is free.
The title of the magazine is very attractive, it is bright and bold and it stands out. Although the background of the front cover is white and the title is white it still stands out because the outline of the text is black and bold which makes it stand out. The slogan is really good aswell [life is load] that also stands out because it overlaps the title and is red and stands out very well from the rest of the magazine. It tells you that the magazine is about rock genres and that life is load with Kerrang! Magazine. It helps attract the reader because it is bold and it explains the magazine really well because life is load with this magazine.
The colours that are used are white, black, and red and orange, I think they used these colours because they stand out. The orange stands out because it is bright and there is not a lot of orange in the magazine only when it is telling you something important. Also the red stands out because the main images story line is red and it is suppose to stand out, and it does it very well.
The strategies that the magazine uses to make the reader be attracted to the audience is bold and clear writing, the colours have to be bold and clear.
